Research & Planning:Evaulation of College Magazine
For my college magazine I firstly decided on the colour scheme, sticking to 3 colours for my cover black, white and then college colours.I think this colour scheme work well on my magazine because it i simple and makes the magazine stand out. For the text on both the cover and the contents pages I used 'Coolvetica' which I downloaded from the website 'datfont'. I made all the text white to stand out against the black background and so it is easy to read.
For both the cover I made sure the stories all had the same size text so that it would look neat and more proffesional.
I think that you can tell the cover and contents page are from the same magazine because they both follow the same theme of a black background and white text, both use the same font.
For the layout of my magazine I followed the a typical layout of a magazine, by making the the masthead was larger than the rest of the font, by having a medium close up photo on the front cover and also by featuring slug lines on the cover.
For my cover I took a variety of photos in different places to make sure I had the correct photo for for magazine. I choose the photo on my magazine because it was clear. I edited the photo in photoshop so that it would be cut out correctly. I think this photo fits well on my cover.

Research & Planning: Audience Response
Before I begin my college magazine I carried out research. For my research I asked 5 questions, these were; 1.What would stories interest you?
2.How much would you pay for the magazine?
3.What do you associate college with?
4.What colours do you think will work well on the magazine?
5.Would you buy the college magazine and why?
6.What kind of layout do you think would look best?
From my research I found out that people would think it is a better idea to use college colours for my magazine colour scheme as people will know it is for my college.

Research & Planning: Analysis of College Magazine
You can tell this is a magazine because of the features in has. Firstly it has has a masthead which is the title of the magazine, you can tell it is the title because it is in bold letters and is a bright colour making it stand out to the reader. It also has a slugline, showing the date of the magazine. It includes as well an issue number and date, a bar code, a main picture and stories. The magazine sticks to a colour scheme using 3 three only on the cover, this makes the magazine look professional and easier to read as there aren't too many colours featured.
From the main picture we can tell this person is a college student because of the props, books showing he is studying. He also fits with the 3 colour scheme as he is wearing black and white. From the stories featured on the cover of the magazine you can tell it is aimed at college students as they are stories college students would be interested in, such a story about phones, making money, fashion showing the magazine has a specific audience.

Research & Planning: Indesign
To make my film review, I firstly found a review of the film 'The Inbetweeners' from the empire website, then on indesign I added more guide to achieve the column look for my work. Then I copied the film review on to a word document, then on indesign by pressing file, place and selecting the word document I added it to the indesign page. Overall my film review turned out o.k but I think I can do better by hopefully working on my Indeisgn skills.

Research & Planning: Photoshop Challenge
For the photoshop challenge I began by opening an A4 document in photoshop by clicking on file, new. I then I wrote the text onto the new document using the text tool and then changed the font, size, colour and centred the text. Next I changed the colour of the background using the paint bucket tool. I then gave the text a drop shadow effect by clicking in the layer menu and then I placed a picture underneath my text to change the colour of her hair using the brush tool, however I think I did something wrong her hair doesn't have the right texture so this is something I need to work on. Finally I added a border to the picture by clicking on the layer menu and then layer style and then I selected stroke.

Research And Planning:Skin Tutorial
For this skin tutorial I used photoshop for the second to firstly remove spots and blemishes with the spot healer tool. I then made her skin look more dewy by adding another layer to photo so her skin would appear dewy. Then I added make up to her using the brush tool making the brush size bigger or smaller depending on where I was using the tool. Finally I changed the colour of her hair also by using the brush tool.

Research And Planning: Introduction to Photoshop
I used photoshop for the first time to create this CD cover. Firstly I used the cutting tool to cut the CD in a circle shape, i then moved the cut out CD on my background using the move tool. I used cut out the horn also using the cutting and moved this on the background, also i used the rotate tool to put the horn on an angle. I then changed the colour of the CD using the colour balance tool. Then using i added a wave to the background by using the filter menu. Finally I added text to my CD cover and changed the size and font of the text.
